South Point Airdrie: Homes, Access and a Growing South-Side Hub

South Point is part of Airdrie’s expanding south-side housing and commercial corridor. It can suit buyers comparing newer housing choices and access to Calgary, while also requiring careful attention to construction timing, current roads and which services are open today.

What is changing around South Point?

The City of Airdrie says construction on South Point Village began in April 2024. The plan describes a 50-acre commercial centre with approximately 415,000 square feet of mixed-use space. That is meaningful context for the area, but buyers should verify which businesses, roads and phases are actually open at the date of purchase.

In July 2026, the City approved the South Airdrie Community Area Structure Plan for the southern tip west of the QEII. The plan area includes South Point and was estimated to be about 38% built, with approximately 2,809 residents at the time and roughly 9,000 anticipated at full build-out. Those are planning estimates, not guarantees of delivery timing.

Housing choices

South Point buyers may encounter attached and detached homes across different construction stages. Compare total price and monthly carrying costs; garage, parking and lot needs; builder versus resale contract terms; possession and construction timing; present access and future road assumptions; competing inventory from later phases; and property-specific comparable sales.

Access and daily-life due diligence

Do a route test at the actual time you expect to travel. Confirm current access, road work, shopping and services using official sources and an on-site visit. A future commercial plan should not be described as a completed amenity.

Frequently asked questions

Is South Point Village complete?

No. The City says construction began in April 2024 and describes the planned scale of the commercial centre. Confirm what is open and accessible at the time you are evaluating a property.

Is South Point a good alternative to Calgary?

It can be worth comparing for buyers considering newer housing and south Airdrie access. The decision should include total cost, travel time, housing type, services, construction stage and resale supply.

Should I buy from a builder or buy resale in South Point?

Compare possession timing, contract terms, incentives, upgrades, inspection rights, warranty, competing inventory and the resale alternatives available at the same total cost.

Can Jot represent a buyer purchasing new construction?

Yes, subject to the builder’s registration and representation rules. Contact Jot before visiting or registering so the process and available representation can be confirmed.
